The Underwater World
Underwater world of the Velebit canal is one of the last oases of untouched life in the Adriatic. Over the centuries, many different species of fish established their habitat here as well as octopus, squid and cuttlefish.
Those intelligent creatures live interesting lives – their perfect defence system enabled them to rule the big blue depths over the millenniums.
In sleepy depths we can find red fish, dentex fish… standing still. They consider you a friend while passing lazily beside you. In a second your attention will be occupied by the richness of different sponges in various shapes and colours.
Although rare and local, fishing boats sail the Velebit canal, the sea is crystal clear, rich with a variety of unusual inhabitants. They are used to fisherman's generosity while cleaning their trammels after fishing.
Night diving in one of the numerous lagoons will provide you with a special beauty and surprise. We emphasize Punta bay filled with variety of fish, shells and snails, all adapted for life in the sand under the water - especially a perfectly camouflaged sole fish.
On the other side, the islands of Razanac Veli and Razanac Mali, observed from the billow, seem united with the mountain massif of Velebit. However, its cliffs, ripping the sea depths, hide a variety of rich life. Immersing into the untouched underwater world of Razanac you will dive into the paradise peace of primordial ancient mysteries.
